about the project

On May 10th, 2017 the BC Government issued the closure of the popular Keyhole Falls hot springs located northwest of Pemberton, BC. Due to increased food and garbage left behind by recreational users, numerous bears have begun to associate the area as a food source. As a result, black bears and grizzly bears are showing dangerous and aggressive behavior towards visitors. Every year popular campgrounds such as Levette Lake and Cat Lake in Squamish also experience bear encounters because of careless camper behavior. In some cases, these campgrounds must be closed. Stream Productions film, Bear in Mind, was created to highlight the reckless camper behavior that could initiate a bear encounter and harm the environment. We hope to bring more awareness to this issue and educate campers on safe camping practices so we can keep all of British Columbia’s beautiful camping destinations open all year long!
